Scope and pricing

How much does a Smart Build typically cost?

Most projects fall between $25,000 and $80,000 installed. Smaller upgrades start around $10,000. We provide a fixed-price proposal after a free walkthrough so there are no surprises.

Do I need to commit to all five systems?

No. We can do one zone of audio, just security, networking only — whatever fits your priorities. Smart Build scales from a single room to a whole-home install.

Is financing available?

Yes. We work with several home-improvement financing partners and can walk you through options at the proposal stage.

Are there any ongoing fees?

No mandatory fees. Some clients add an optional annual service plan for tune-ups, firmware updates, and priority support.

Process and timeline

How long does the whole project take?

For new construction, prewire happens during framing and trim install happens 1-2 weeks before move-in. For existing homes, most projects are completed in 2-4 weeks from contract signing.

Do you work with my builder or general contractor?

Yes, and we strongly prefer it. We coordinate directly with your GC, electrician, and framer so the low-voltage scope drops cleanly into the existing schedule.

Can you retrofit an existing home without tearing into walls?

Often yes — wireless mesh networks, surface-mount cameras, and wireless audio products give us a lot of flexibility. Some installations like in-wall speakers or hidden cabling do require minor drywall work.

Equipment and warranty

What brands do you use?

Pro-grade equipment only — Ubiquiti / UniFi for networking and security, Sonos for audio, Lutron for lighting, premium displays for theater. Specific models are detailed in your itemized proposal.

What if something breaks?

All equipment carries the manufacturer warranty (typically 2-5 years). We add a 1-year labor warranty on top — if anything we installed fails in the first year, we come fix it at no charge.

Can I add to the system later?

Absolutely. Every Smart Build is designed with expansion in mind — extra cable runs, headroom on the network, and rack space for adding gear over time.
